Monthly Review: January

It’s the end of the month! In two days, I’ll be celebrating my first month as a book blogger, and I can’t thank all of you enough for bearing with me through this incredible development in my life. Hats off to you guys.

It’s been a really good month for books: 6 that made it onto my blog, 3 on the way, and 1 with a special place in my heart. I officially own almost all of these as of last week, however I don’t think I’ll be picking up Red Queen or Wicked Lovely for my at-home bookshelf anytime soon. It’s been a very female-centric month, and overwhelmingly rich with fantasy and romance (my two favorite things.) I’m holding out hope that February has just as many fabulous books in store.

  • Favorite cover: Red Queen for it’s minimalist design and very captivating color scheme.
  • Favorite series starter: Moon Called, for reasons I will absolutely delve into when I review it later this week!
  • Favorite sequel: Heir of Fire for how it shattered my heart as it marched all the way up onto my favorites shelf and plopped down as if daring me to fight it for that spot. Totally earned every moment of love it got from me.

IN STORE FOR FEBRUARYShifting Shadows, a collection of novellas from the world of Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs; Rebel Belle, my first book by Rachel Hawkins; and The Wrath and the Dawn, a retelling of A Thousand and One Nights by Renee Ahdieh.

If you’ve read any of these, let me know what you think in the comments! Happy reading.
