Teaser Tuesday #2

I really went all-out on reviews and tags today, so I’m going to take it easy this week and do another one of these. Maybe next week I’ll try doing one of these and a Top Ten Tuesday, but until I finish studying for my next exam, that’ll have to wait. As always, Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme is hosted by MizB from Books and a Beat. Check them out for more awesome reviews!

Rules:

1. Grab your current read

2. Open to a random page

3. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

4. Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

“I am more concerned,” I said, “of knowing where it will end.” She laughed, a mirthless sound. “Where it always ends, Bard. With me.”

I feel pretty mixed about this book, because while the story itself is very interesting and compelling, it is entirely in flashback…? Like every chapter where something happens is broken up with basically “so, just to recap, this is who everyone is and how I feel about it. Okay here’s what happened a week later.” It’s not bad, but I will definitely have to see if it really becomes a hindrance or not as I approach the end of the novel. — 53% done

How do you pick titles to request on NetGalley? What was the most recent ARC you read, and did you enjoy it? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I have an ARC of The Bone Witch I still need to read. It’s so hyped-up right now, but I don’t know anyone else who has read it. I don’t know if I would like an entire book that’s a flashback. That’s really disappointing. Do you think you’ll finish it?

      1. I’ll definitely check out your review. Are you posting closer to the pub date? I was thinking I’d wait until December to read this one. I sometimes post a quick review on Goodreads when I have ARCs that are really ahead of schedule. I’m curious about your thoughts after you finish reading. 🙂

      2. I’ll likely post one closer to the review date, yeah. In the meantime, I may type up a shorter review to send to the publisher before April just in case. And perhaps post on here if I feel like it’s worth discussing early 🙂

  2. I also have this ARC from NetGalley but have heard so many mixed reviews lately that it’s proving to be a real turn off 🙈I really hope that when I get it, I fall on the side of people who enjoy it. I’ve heard so much about the writing style not being a lot of bloggers cup of tea 🤔💭 I usually go through the recently added on NetGalley for title and or covers that catch my eye & then I Goodreads them for feedback. I also get recs from the blogosphere. The last ARC I read was Ink and Bone by Lisa Unger but it was approved mths after its release date, still really enjoyed it. Curious to know what you think about this one when you’ve finished it 😃💕

    1. This one for me was definitely a cover-request, since it’s so pretty looking and super detailed. I have to agree that the writing style isn’t my cup of tea, but I’m gonna wait until I finish it to pass final judgment. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing what you think of it, too 🙂
